Carpet and Rug Institute Green Label Plus Certification (CRI)
All Shaw carpet is certified through the Carpet and Rug Institute's Green Label Plus program which evaluates a product's indoor air quality. Shaw products are recognized for emitting very low Volatile Organic Compounds or VOCs into the air, creating a safer environment for living and working.
Total Appearance Retention Rating (TARR)
Shaw uses the industry standard Hexapod test (ASTM D5252) to determine a product’s Total Appearance Retention Rating (TARR). The Hexapod test replicates foot traffic by placing carpet inside a rotatable drum with a metal hexapod that rolls randomly on the pile surface. The test is designed to simulate 20,000 “walks” and the carpet is evaluated based on texture and appearance on a rating scale from 1.0 to 5.0 with 5.0 being the best.
